I’m going to write about one of the most popular house refurbishment/architect and interior design specified items of this decade. They are called a few different things and Google searches are high for industrial style doors and steel replacement doors.
Who would have thought that in the 21st Century a 100 year old product would be so popular now? That so many of us, over a certain age and still currently for some (unfortunately for them) remember as draughty, freezing cold windows and doors. Not forgetting how easy they were to break into. I’m talking from personal experience. The thief even stole one of my rain coats because it started to rain while he was filling his pockets!
They’ve been reborn either made by the same company or with aluminium replica frames but now, high security with double glazing and low u values for today’s environment.
Slim Aluminium Profile
At Colin’s Sash Windows they’ve become our second best selling product. We sell the aluminium version. Surprisingly good value but with some size restraints because of the slim aluminium profile. The real mcoy, made of steel, can be made higher and wider but, boy, you really have to pay for that!
Our affordable Heritage French doors, with the all important replica lock housings, can be a maximum 1800mm wide and 2100mm high. If you have a bigger space you will need side lights or top lights which can be openable or fixed. They are supplied with 28mm double glazed sealed units. The doors have a multi-point locking system and handles and hinges in black but you could have them in different finish if requested.
The heritage doors and windows can now be specified to comply with Part Q (security of dwellings) of Building Regulations which makes them extremely hard to break into. They are available in Black, Anthracite RAL 7016 and gloss white. Black is the most popular colour we supply. They can also be sprayed in any RAL colour.

I'm the founder of Colin's Sash Windows. I disrupted the sash windows market in the UK in 2014 by introducing fixed prices for uPVC sash windows in the UK. Before this they were generally only available at very high prices through window installers. Today our business is one of the market leaders in supply only windows, doors and roofs in the UK.
